Now we know what's worse than a 1-0 home stoppage-time loss in a game where Orlando City was the better team -- having it happen twice in a row.
Nevertheless, despite a result that can certainly be called "against the run of play," there were many outstanding moments where -- if we didn't know the outcome -- we'd still be looking back fondly. There was that flurry of saves by Donovan Ricketts and Brek Shea. There were magical passes by Kaká and incredible crosses by Shea. How about Kevin Molino's scoop pass to set up Rafael Ramos's chance? See? There were positives.
And here in this gallery are some images from a night that could have been memorable for all the right reasons, even though now it will be remembered for all the wrong ones. Hey, it happens. That's soccer. "Deserve" seldom has anything to do with the game of soccer, and so it was last night, in what could have been a Lions romp over a very good D.C. United squad, but instead was the thievery of three more points out of Central Florida by a team that maybe didn't entirely deserve them.
Enjoy Nick Leyva's photos from last night.
