Orlando City vs. FC Dallas: Photo Gallery

An album of images from the Lions’ 2-0 victory at Exploria Stadium.

Carlos Romero, The Mane Land

Orlando City entered last night having never scored a goal against FC Dallas, let alone having beaten the visitors from Texas. But resolute defending and a couple moments of magic on the offensive end combined to end that dubious streak. The Lions scored one goal early and another one late to hand Dallas a 2-0 loss at Exploria Stadium in front of a raucous crowd.

It was a deserved victory for an Orlando side that conceded a lot of possession but very few scoring opportunities. Whenever Dallas entered the Lions’ third of the pitch, the players swarmed the ball en masse. Will Johnson, Carlos Ascues, and Sebas Mendez popped up everywhere to help shield the back line and forced Dallas into wide areas all night. Dallas was unable to find its targets in and around the area most of the night, relegating shots from longer range and players like Jesus Ferreira and Dominique Badji to mainly a spectator role. Only Santiago Mosquera fashioned a few threatening opportunities.

It was a good — and critical — victory for the Lions, who still have quite a bit of work to do to rise above the playoff line and reach the postseason for the first time ever.

We hope you enjoy these images from a great night out at Exploria Stadium.
