The 2019 MLS All-Star Game came to Exploria Stadium last night and visiting Spanish power Aletico Madrid showed its class with a 3-0 win over the best collection of players in Major League Soccer. A rainy night couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the sellout crowd, which oohed and aahed all night with the skill on display from both teams.
Orlando City captain Nani held his own during his 45 minutes on the pitch, Wayne Rooney played a deep-lying Andrea Pirlo-type role, and Carlos Vela and Zlatan Ibrahimovic had some nice interchanges up top although the All-Stars failed to score. Marcos Llorente’s goal was the only one until late, when Atleti flexed their muscles and added two at the end, with Joao Felix and Diego Costa showing their talent.
Despite the hosts not winning the match, the crowd was treated to an entertaining display on the pitch, and the city of Orlando showed well, selling out the building with a crowd of 25,527 for the league’s mid-season spectacle.
We hope you enjoy this album of images from a historic night at Exploria Stadium.
