Guide to Watching Former Orlando City Players in the USL

Here’s your guide to watching former Orlando City players this year.

Whether they played with the first team during the USL era, MLS era, or with OCB, there are several former Lions that are still playing in the United States. While you may know which former Lions are still in MLS, there are many that are playing in the second division USL Championship or third division USL League One. The USL’s deal with ESPN+ allows fans to keep track of these players they once cheered. Here are the former Lions you can watch this coming season.

Austin Bold FC – USL Championship

Amobi Okugo - Midfielder

On Orlando City’s inaugural MLS roster in 2015, Okugo made 17 appearances with 10 starts and recorded 955 minutes.

Birmingham Legion FC – USL Championship

Mikey Lopez - Midfielder

Lopez joined Orlando City on loan from Sporting Kansas City during the 2014 USL Pro season and made nine appearances, with one start, and recorded 170 minutes.

Eric Avila - Midfielder

Avila played with Orlando City during its first MLS season in 2015, making 24 appearances with 18 starts. He recorded 1,564 minutes, one goal, and three assists.

Tyler Turner - Defender

In three years with the first team after signing as a Homegrown Player in 2014, Turner made 36 appearances with 30 starts, recording 2,708 minutes, one goal, and three assists. With OCB, he made 27 appearances with 22 starts, recording 2,081 minutes, four goals, and one assist.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC – USL Championship

Jordan Schweitzer - Midfielder

Schweitzer played with OCB during the 2017 USL season. He made 24 appearances with 18 starts, recording 1,699 minutes, one goal, and one assist.

El Paso Locomotive FC – USL Championship

Mechack Jérôme - Defender

An original Lion, Mechack Jerome played in the 2011 and 2012 seasons with Orlando City, helping the team to two league titles and a USL Pro Championship. He made 42 appearances with 36 starts, recording 3,326 minutes, two goals, and five assists.

Fresno FC – USL Championship

Zach Ellis-Hayden - Defender

Zach Ellis-Hayden spent two seasons with OCB in 2016 and 2017. He made 44 appearances with 37 starts, recording 3,474 minutes, one goal, and two assists.

Giuseppe Gentile - Forward

During the 2014 season with Orlando City, Gentile made 12 appearances with three starts, recording 403 minutes, two goals, and one assist.

Hartford Athletic – USL Championship

Scott DeVoss - Defender

Scott DeVoss was the club’s third-round draft pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. After not being offered a contract during the preseason, DeVoss joined Hartford for the 2019 season.

Louisville City FC

George Davis IV - Midfielder

Helping the team to a regular season title in 2012, George Davis IV made eight appearances with four starts, recording 418 minutes with one goal and one assist.

New Mexico United – USL Championship

Tommy Madden - Midfielder

Tommy Madden was selected in the second round of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City. He joins New Mexico after not being offered a contract during the preseason.

North Carolina FC – USL Championship

Austin Da Luz - Midfielder

Austin Da Luz played the 2014 season with Orlando City, making 21 appearances with 14 starts and recording 1,237 minutes with five goals and one assist.

Orange County Blues – USL Championship

Kevin Alston - Defender

Alston played with Orlando City in 2016 and 2017, making 26 appearances with 22 starts and recording 2,161 minutes. He also made 12 appearances with OCB, making 11 starts and recording 756 minutes.

Christian Duke - Midfielder

Christian Duke joined Orlando City on loan from Sporting Kansas City in 2013. He made 25 appearances with 16 starts, recorded 1,526 minutes, one goal, and one assist.

Aodhan Quinn - Midfielder

Aodhan Quinn spent the 2014 season with Orlando City. He made 18 appearances with 11 starts, recorded 976 minutes and two assists.

Phoenix Rising FC – USL Championship

Carl Woszczynski - Goalkeeper

Carl Woszczynski joined Orlando City for the 2014 season. The goalkeeper made six starts, recording 540 minutes. He conceded three goals and had three clean sheets.

Reno 1868 FC – USL Championship

Zach Carroll - Defender

Zach Carroll played the 2017 season with OCB, making 24 appearances with 20 starts. He recorded 1,905 minutes with two goals and one assist.

Corey Hertzog - Forward

Corey Hertzog played with Orlando City in 2014, making 25 appearances with 17 starts for 1,465 minutes. He scored six goals and recorded three assists.

Rio Grande Valley FC Toros – USL Championship

Conor Donovan – Defender

After being drafted by Orlando City during the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Donovan played with the club from 2015 to 2017, making two appearances with two starts and recording 116 minutes. He made 35 appearances with OCB, however, recording 30 starts, 2,675 minutes, and one goal.

Sacramento Republic FC – USL Championship

Rafael Diaz – Goalkeeper

Rafael Diaz spent the 2014 season with Orlando City, making one substitute appearance for one minute when he came on at the end of a U.S. Open Cup game.

Saint Louis FC – USL Championship

Albert Dikwa – Forward

Dikwa spent the 2017 season at OCB, making 22 appearances with 10 starts. He recorded 1,153 minutes with three goals and two assists.

Jake Fenlason – Goalkeeper

Jake Fenlason spent two seasons with OCB in 2016 and 2017, starting 10 games for 825 minutes and conceding 12 goals. He also recorded 25 saves and two clean sheets.

Austin Martz - Midfielder

Austin Martz spent the 2017 season with OCB, making 30 appearances with 22 starts and recording 1,991 minutes. He also scored two goals and had two assists.

Greenville Triumph SC – USL League One

Paul Clowes - Midfielder

Before joining the Triumph, Clowes played the 2017 season at OCB, making 16 appearances with 13 starts and recording 1,160 minutes with a goal.

Richmond Kickers – USL League One

Scott Thomsen - Defender

Scott Thomsen played for OCB in 2017, making 15 appearances with 11 starts. He recorded 1,102 minutes and one assist.

Dennis Chin – Forward

An original Lion, Dennis Chin is one of three players in club history to reach 100 appearances after Luke Boden and Kevin Molino. He made 103 appearances between 2011 and 2014 with 52 starts and 4,996 minutes. His 32 goals rank him fourth in club history.
