After a rough call cost Orlando City points in Columbus on Saturday night, the Lions were due for some better luck upon returning home for a Thursday night clash with New York City FC. That luck did not arrive, as the Lions hit the woodwork four (!) times in a disappointing 2-0 home loss to the visitors.
A five-minute span at the end of the first half saw two utterly preventable goals from happening and Orlando was swept in the season series by NYCFC for the first time — and without scoring a goal. Cyle Larin remains the only Lion to have scored on New York City FC since the 2016 season.
Still, the Lions managed to pepper Sean Johnson’s goal in the second half, looking for a way back into the game. Yoshimar Yotún, Chris Schuler, and Josué Colmán all hit the woodwork in the second half and Dom Dwyer’s 1-v-1 opportunity was denied by Johnson. It just wasn’t Orlando’s night.
Still, we hope you enjoy these images from a night out cheering on the lads in purple at Orlando City Stadium.
