The Orlando Pride and Sky Blue FC met under cloudy skies last night at Orlando City Stadium and the home side came away with a 3-2 match in a sloppy affair. Neither team passed particularly well and the Pride were extremely wasteful with several first-half scoring opportunities that could have put the match to bed early, but in the end Tom Sermanni’s team took all three points and that’s what matters most.
Sydney Leroux scored a brace before halftime and Marta shook off her calf strain long enough to come off the bench and turn in a fantastic performance that led to the winning goal. Rachel Hill again provided energy off the bench in addition to the game-winning strike.
The Pride climbed into a tie for second on points, though still one goal behind Seattle for that spot in terms of differential.
