You couldn’t really blame the Lions if they had gone into a defensive shell and tried to minimize the damage after going down a goal and a man in the first half. But that doesn’t seem to be what this Orlando City team is going to be like. This team pressed, kept the ball, and created scoring chances throughout the second half before finally finding a deserved equalizer in the 93rd minute.
A number of new Lions were in the lineup, including rookies Cam Lindley and Chris Mueller, as well as Amro Tarek, Mohamed El-Munir, and Justin Meram. Even more came off the bench, including RJ Allen and the goal-scoring hero, Stéfano Pinho. With all those new faces playing in a meaningful game together for the first time, and missing several key players who will be important throughout this 2018 season, it would be understandable if things fell apart. They did, a bit, but then they came back together.
We hope you enjoy these images on a season opener that seemed to portend an exciting 2018 MLS season for those who support the lads in purple.
