Losing is never fun, and losing to people who you know well can be the most painful kind of loss there is. Such was the case last night when Adrian Heath brought Kevin Molino and the rest of Minnesota United’s Loons to Orlando City Stadium to do battle with the Lions. The visitors struck first, which always makes for an uphill battle, but the Lions fought back to win a penalty and converted it to equalize.
But Ethan Finlay shook free on a counter-attack late in the match and this time there were no last-minute equalizers in the Lions’ bag of tricks.
It was a disappointing result against one of the teams most people predict will have a long season. But there were still moments of excitement and fluid play, and we did get to say hello to the Orlando Pride at halftime. Oh, and some of those injured and suspended star players will start trickling into the lineup as early next week.
So, enjoy these images from last night’s match and let’s look forward to getting Sacha Kljestan back for the team’s first road trip.
