On a chilly day at UCF’s Spectrum Stadium, a team from Ecuador fell behind and then roared back to take not only a match against Brazilian top-flight side Fluminense (by a 3-1 score), but also control of first place in the 2018 Florida Cup. Prior to Monday, only Rangers from Scotland had won both Florida Cup matches. Barcelona not only equaled Rangers’ six points and +3 goal differential, but also surpassed the Scottish giants’ goals scored total to take first place.

Jonathan Betancurt’s brace led Ídolo del Ecuador to an impressive victory over the Brazilian Serie A club. Now, with just one match remaining, only Atletico Nacional can threaten Barcelona SC with a win over Legia Warsaw on Saturday in St. Pete.
