It seems like we’ve been waiting for a game like this forever. Through a very difficult summer, there was always the hope that at some point, it would all just come together perfectly for Orlando City. But, until last night, that hadn’t happened. It’s been a long time since the Lions have been on the positive side of a beatdown like last night’s 6-1 win over the New England Revolution.
Lee Nguyen’s free kick goal was the only blemish on an Orlando City romp at home. And it was a night of firsts: Dom Dwyer’s first goal in his new home stadium, Yoshimar Yotun’s and Antonio Nocerino’s first MLS goals, Richie Laryea’s first MLS assist, and the first time Orlando has scored six goals in MLS play.
The club dedicated the game to honoring a fan who was a victim of Hurricane Irma when he was electrocuted by a downed power line. Brian Buwalda would have loved this game.
We hope you enjoy these images and that they help you remember a fun night at Orlando City Stadium when all was right in the soccer world.
