The Orlando Pride entered last night’s game with no points to show for four previous meetings with the Chicago Red Stars. For a while, it looked like the Pride would get that elusive first win in the series, but a Sofia Huerta stunner and a rather stingy goal frame forced the Pride to settle for their first point in the series after a 1-1 draw.
Tom Sermanni’s side hit the woodwork early and often and the visitors were fortunate to escape with a point but the Pride will feel they should have had all three. Still, it was good to see Alex Morgan scoring at Orlando City Stadium. Morgan’s first-half goal stood until Huerta’s curling masterpiece leveled things in the second half. Orlando seemed likely all game long to get a second but it just wouldn’t come.
With another match coming up Tuesday at home against Washington, the Pride won’t have to think about missed opportunities for very long.
We hope you enjoy these photos from an entertaining match at Orlando City Stadium.
