The Pride opened their new home with a 1-1 draw against the Washington Spirit on a night that was supposed to be a celebration of Marta joining the team. It nearly was, with the newest member of the Pride fizzing a shot just inches wide in stoppage time that would have won the game. Marta was still thinking about that missed opportunity after the match, but rookie Danica Evans managed to at least earn the Pride a point with her first career goal as a professional.
With 14,000+ screaming Pride fans in attendance, the hosts put on a good show but couldn't quite find the final ball on far too many occasions, squandering a 21-shot performance by scoring only the one goal in the 86th minute.
The images here tell part of the story of the match, particularly Danica's teammates celebrating her first goal with her just after the ball went in. We hope you enjoy these photos from an eventful night at Orlando City Stadium.
