Welcome to another Saturday morning Lion Links. We are much closer to the season-opening game. The countdown is less than a month from today, when we will be #ComingHome. This is the latest news for you to start your day.
2017 Orlando City Home Kit Leaked
Today we bring to you the new jersey we will have on opening day in our new stadium. The images were leaked yesterday with the kits showing some changes in the gold stripes in the shoulder area, as opposed to the old white ones. As to the colors of the letters and numbers, we have no official information yet, but we’ll know by Feb. 17 when the club officially reveals the new kit to the public.
Spector Talks About Leaving England for Orlando City
So how did we land Jonathan Spector? In a great interview with ESPN, Jonathan opens up on what brought him over the sea to play in MLS for the first time in his soccer career. Part of his decision-making process included an opportunity that he could’t let pass, and also a meeting with Jason Kreis and the plan that the gaffer presented to him. You can read the full interview here.
We Know Who Will Referee the Opener
Like I said earlier, we are less than a month away from the home opener against New York City FC. You can feel the excitement for our third season building. We now know the names of the guys in charge of controlling the game — the referees. The man in charge of the calls will be Jair Marrufo. You might remember him from our Philadelphia Union game in 2016 that we lost, 2-1, on a free kick goal that should have been disallowed. Here is all the info about every game’s officiating on opening weekend.
Pride's Kristen Edmonds and The Crown Team Up to Help Paws in the Park
Orlando Pride’s Kristen Edmonds has invited everyone to today’s “Paws in the Park” event at Lake Eola in support of the Pet Alliance. At this event you can have the opportunity to win meet-and-greet with Kristen and all those participating will have a chance to win a signed jersey. But let’s let our Pride star give you the information herself:
