Note: We at The Mane Land believe in the responsible consumption of alcohol. If, as an adult of legal drinking age, you decide to drink alcohol, we urge you to please ensure you do so in a safe manner, and never drink and drive.

This is it! The last regular season Pride Pub of 2017, as the Lions take on the Philadelphia Union. While this season hasn’t been all we would have hoped for, we still were able to watch soccer, drink good beer, and enjoy excellent food. That’s something we should be grateful for and celebrate. With more grub, grog, and soccer!

Just a reminder on how this works: we choose a craft beer from the country/state/city of our opponent and we include an appropriate recipe to go along with it. Of course, we also choose a Florida craft beer to complement our other recipe and to represent our Orlando City Lions here in the beautiful Sunshine State.

From Pennsylvania: Prima Pils, Victory Brewing

What started with a homebrew kit has morphed into one of the best known craft breweries in America. Throw in the fact that they have some of the coolest growlers available, and it’s a recipe for greatness. Prima Pils is an excellent example of what the brewery can put out.

According to the brewery:

"Prima! It’s a German exclamation of joy. It’s a recognition of accomplishment. It’s what escaped from our lips the first time we sampled this mighty pilsner recipe. With heaps of whole flower European hops and fine German malts, we achieved the bracing herbal bite and smooth malt flavor that we sought. Prima… an exclamation of Victory! Prost!"

Pair with: Homemade Pizza. Pizza and pils are a great combo. The nice thing is you get to choose your own toppings!

Dave’s Recommendations: Side salad. We’ve got a recipe for you, though you can certainly make your own if you’d like.

From Florida: Rising Hope IPA, Brew Bus Brewing

Brew Bus and Florida Avenue have combined two breweries into one bigger, better brewery. Between the tours, bus, and the brewery itself, they have a ton to offer. Their Rising Hope IPA, isn’t just tasty, a portion of the proceeds are donated to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Talk about a beer worth buying!

According to the brewery:

"IPA brewed with gooseberry and grapefruit to benefit the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.”

Well that touched on the important stuff, but let’s see what our friends at www.ratebeer.com have to say:

“Interesting can, reminds me of '60's San Francisco poster art. Foggy, flaxen pour with a swarm of flocculent bits and a snowy head. Lilies and soap overtones to the malty aroma. Frothy mouthfeel, good carbonation, quick finish. Grapefruit complement was deftly applied. Nice lingering, modest bitterness. Overall this was just a well-balanced, refreshing beer on a hot fall day in Tallahassee.”

Pair with: Cheesesteak Burgers with Pickled Peppers, Onions, and Cucumber. I felt we had to end things with a great burger, and the pickled condiments on this one will complement the grapefruit and gooseberry flavors in the beer.

Dave’s Recommendations: Skillet Fried Potatoes. While most have fried potatoes as part of a good breakfast, there’s no reason we can’t have them with a burger for dinner.

As we stack the stools, and shutter the Pub, we thank you for joining us this season for your tailgates and watch parties. Go City!
