Top notch international club soccer is a lot of fun, and the Florida Cup is the perfect off-season respite for a winter without Orlando City's teams playing.
It was a great night for soccer as 2017 Florida Cup action resumed at the University of Central Florida's Bright House Networks Stadium on Wednesday. The tournament's FC Playoff stage continues with Barcelona SC out of Ecuador and Millonarios FC from Colombia squaring off in their final match of the event in the consolation game. Colombian side Millonarios scored a free kick goal late in the match to grab fifth place with a 1-0 win, sending Barcelona to the FC Playoff basement, in sixth.
The nightcap saw a lot more goals, with Brazilian giants Corinthians wearing out fellow Serie A side Vasco da Gama, 4-1. The win pushes Corinthians into Saturday's final match against the winner of tonight's game in St. Petersburg between Argentina's River Plate and Brazil's Sao Paulo.
Brazilian teams haven't had the best of tournaments during this year's Florida Cup, but with two Serie A clubs facing each other in one of the semifinals, it guaranteed at least one side from Brazil would make the championship. Sao Paulo will try to make it an all-Brazil final.
All of the colors and excitement of the two matches can be seen in the images in this photo gallery. We hope you enjoy them.
