Good Sunday morning and welcome back to the Church of Lion. It wasn’t the greatest of Saturdays yesterday but we’ll get through it. Let’s grab that morning cup of Joe and get right into the links!
Orlando City Falls at Home to Columbus Crew
Well, that could have gone better. The Lions were in great shape entering Saturday with a game in hand on D.C. United and the last-place Crew coming to town. But then they went and played the game and messed everything up. Here’s all the coverage you need from the match:
- Gavin Ewbank has your game recap.
- Allen Etzler has our player grades and Man of the Match.
- Our fellow SB Nation blog Massive Report has the enemy’s perspective.
And check back later today for our five takeaways from the match.
Orlando City B Drops 1-0 Match at Cincinnati
The young Lions didn’t fare much better than the senior squad, as OCB suffered a 1-0 defeat at FC Cincinnati last night. Somehow OCB is still holding onto that final playoff position with one match to go, but the Lions’ lead has shrunk to just one lousy point. Orlando City B must get a result in the season finale at Bethlehem Steel FC in order to secure that postseason berth.
Tally Hall: New OPD Officer
Former Orlando City goalkeeper Tally Hall has turned his attention to a new career — law enforcement. From my knowledge, Tally’s always had a passion for police work and is taking this to the next level. Playing professional soccer is a very rewarding career, but putting on the blues of a police officer is so much more.
Congrats Tally on coming back to Orlando and for wanting to keep our beautiful city a safe place.
2017 Season Tickets are Sold Out
Great job, Orlando City fans. All 18,000 season tickets are now accounted for, heading into the new downtown soccer stadium in 2017. Talk about opening the new stadium with a bang. Filling it up game in and game out with season ticket holders will continue the trend of making Orlando a very tough road game for Major League Soccer opposition.
That being said, the season ticket purchasing and renewal process had some hiccups along the way, but in the end, every ticket was sold. Well done, everyone!
Megan Rapinoe Overshadowing Women’s Team
By now, everyone knows about the kneeling in the pregame during the National Anthem and it is starting to overshadow everything else that is happening in the sports world. Tonight, the United States Women’s National Team is playing the Netherlands in Atlanta, but most of the talk revolves around midfielder Megan Rapinoe.
There are a million opinions out there about this, but this isn’t the platform for it. I’m just curious about the repercussions, if any, that may or may not take place for a player representing their country and taking a stand like this. I guess we will see what transpires later tonight.
That’s it for now. Thanks for popping by this morning and stick around for more coverage throughout the day. Have a great day, Mane Landers!
