Here at the Pride Pub we provide craft beer choices and delectable food recommendations to enjoy during Orlando City matches. Just a reminder on how this works: we choose a craft beer from the state/city/area of our opponent and include a recipe to pair with that beer. We also choose a Florida craft beer to represent our Lions and the beautiful Sunshine State. This week, Orlando City heads to Red Bull Arena to take on the New York Red Bulls. Coming off another PRO-tastic result last week, it's way past time to have a beer.

From New York - Blue Point Oatmeal Stout, Blue Point Brewing Co.

When Mark Burford and Pete Cotter started Blue Point Brewing, they had high expectations for themselves. They named the company after the famous Blue Point Oysters, favored by Queen Victoria herself. But they didn't let that shape how they did things. Heck, they tapped their first keg in a parking lot. Their Oatmeal Stout is a good example of the type, and certainly tastes better than Red Bull.

According to the brewery:

"We brew our Oatmeal Stout for the true lovers of darker brews. We use pale, crystal, chocolate and roasted malts with just the right amount of flaked oats to create this deeply malted and uncommonly silky stout. It's full-flavored and rich tasting, just the way it's meant to be."

Pair with: BBQ Pork Skewers. Oatmeal Stouts go great with grilled meats. This pairing is complimentary in the sweetness and roasted flavors in both the stout and the pork.

Dave's recommendations: Since we're skewering food, let's kabob some veggies to go with those BBQ Pork Skewers.

From Florida - Wild Night Honey Cream, Swamphead Brewery

Go check out the Swamphead story for yourself. What I really like about the company, other than its beer, is the job titles. Malty Crue and Swamphead Slingers...awesome!

According to the brewery:

"Along the rivers, in the fields, and through the forests of Florida, thousands of bees are hard at work, producing some of the sweetest honey in the world. We like to think they're proud that all of their hard work has ended up in our award winning honey cream ale.

Wild Night is light and delicate, yet bursting with flavor. We add local honey to a traditional cream ale, and a touch of hops to update this American Classic. Enjoyable anytime you're thirsting for a crisp, clean beer, our honey cream ale is what light beer should bee!"

Pair with: Honey Garlic Salmon. The light taste of the cream ale will go nicely with the strong taste of salmon. Additionally, the honey in both the beer and the salmon will bring them together. Substitute Tupelo honey to really make it Floridian.

Dave's recommendations: Parmesan Garlic Noodles, continuing the complimentary tastes with the garlic in both dishes.

We hope you will enjoy this week's selections and that Orlando City is able to take three points and give us all something to toast. As always, we'd love your feedback in the comments below. Vamos Orlando!
