Orlando Pride Opens Inaugural NWSL Preseason Camp

After months of anticipation, Pride players and coaches hit the practice field for the start of the 2016 NWSL preseason. Here's a brief overview and video from today's first training session.

Monday, for the first time ever, Orlando Pride players and coaches hit the field together for an organized practice. Head Coach Tom Sermanni and his staff began the club's inaugural preseason with a training session at Moores Station in Sanford. The full team is not all here just yet, as national team players from Australia, Canada, Brazil, and the U.S. will report by the end of week.

"It was good to get the players out, have a look at their play and to get them into soccer straight away," said Sermanni. "My first impressions are very good. There's nobody out there that looks like they are out of place. There's no doubt that they've come back in good shape, so the team is in good condition. All in all, a very good first day."

Keeping things simple, the first day activities consisted of fitness exercises and an informal scrimmage within the squad. Players took to the practice pitch to face each other and take shots on goal. Goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe took part at one end of the field defending one of the goals. The Pride continue preparations for the first test, as the team will face Eastern Florida State College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, in front of an expected sold-out crowd at Titan Soccer Complex.
