The Lions aren't headed to the postseason but still managed to end the 2016 MLS campaign on a high note, winning 2-0 at Philadelphia before heading home to close their run at Camping World Stadium with yesterday's thrilling 4-2 drubbing of D.C. United. It was only the second ever win for Orlando City in the series, in which United now holds a 3-2 advantage. Previously, the Lions had never scored more than one goal in a game against D.C. in MLS play.
The midfield took center stage, with Kevin Molino, Kaká, and Cristian Higuita all scoring goals. Julio Baptista chipped in another after entering late in the second half. And if not for a few other near misses, the score could have been pretty lopsided. At least we enter the off-season on a positive after a rough few months.
