We recently asked our readers to let us know which Major League Soccer teams you hate the most in our 2015 MLS Hate Index. The premise was simple -- each team was listed, and readers were asked to check thumbs up or thumbs down for all the teams they liked/disliked. At the end of the voting period, we now know which teams you really can't stand.
Nearly 250 voters participated, casting more than 3,000 up or down votes among the 19 MLS teams that aren't Orlando City.
Unsurprisingly, you hate New York City FC. NYCFC garnered by far the most down votes, with 192, and received only nine up votes to claim the most hated slot in our 2015 Hate Index. The second most down votes went to Columbus Crew SC, which had 168 down votes. However, the Crew were only the sixth most hated team in our poll, by virtue of their 63 up votes. Either Crew fans have been visiting en masse and selecting their club or Orlando City fans respect what Gregg Berhalter has built in Central Ohio.
The second most hated club turned out to be Montreal Impact, which received 141 down votes and 39 up votes for a total of -102. Third was LA Galaxy, with a total of -95 (134 up votes and 39 up votes), followed by D.C. United and Toronto FC (with the third-most down votes, 143).
The least hated team among Man Land readers was the champion Portland Timbers. Portland received only 29 down votes and a league-high 145 up votes for a total of +116. Other teams not getting any hate were Sporting Kansas City (unsurprising) and Seattle Sounders (very surprising; we see you, Sounder at Heart readers).
Here's how the voting finished in our 2015 Hate Index, from most to least hated:
New York City FC
Columbus Crew SC
New England Revolution
San Jose Earthquakes
New York Red Bulls
Real Salt Lake
Sporting Kansas City
