Welcome back to the Pride Pub! Just a reminder on how this works: we choose a craft beer from the state/city/area of our opponent and include a yummy recipe to pair with that beer. Of course, we also choose a Florida craft beer to represent our Orlando City Lions and the beautiful Sunshine State.
This week we welcome the Impact de Montreal to the Citrus Bowl for a VERY important match with playoff implications. Usually, I put in some reference to Bob and Doug McKenzie and Strange Brew when we have Canadians, but this week is too important for such levity. Oh, who am I kidding, eh?
From Quebec: Dom De Dieu, Unibroue
According to the Brewery:
"Complex aromas of vanilla and fruitcake, flowers, and honey. Smooth, complex flavor that is slightly fruity, malty, nutty, and yeasty, with a hint of unfiltered sake."
Pair with: Porky Burger
I know that a burger doesn’t sound very tough, but we’re several weeks into this Pride Pub thing, and it's time to step up to an abnormal burger. Let’s see how you do!
Dave’s recommendations: Heck, if you’re going to go through the effort to make this gourmet burger, don’t skimp on the bun. Go with the brioche bun, you’ll thank me later.
From Florida: Intuition Works I-10 IPA
According to the Brewery:
"The West Coast comes to Jax with this extremely hoppy, true India Pale Ale. Our two-row malted barley and caramel malt come to life with a ?@?#-ton of Northwest hops. We use 4 different hops during the brewing process and during dry hopping. It’s music to your nose."
Pair with: Blackened Chicken Breast
Dave's recommendation: Add some grilled asparagus for a side dish. Grill the asparagus with the chicken to allow it to soak up some of the blackened flavor.
We all know how important this match is, so while I held true to providing a selection for Montreal...to heck with them, go with the Florida selection! Go Lions, beat Montreal!
