We're back in Pride Pub! Just a reminder on how this works: we choose a craft beer from the state/city/area of our opponent and we include a delicious recipe to pair with that beer. Of course, we also choose a Florida craft beer to represent our Orlando City Lions and the beautiful Sunshine State.
This week, we're entertaining those guys from Chicago...
No, not those guys. The Chicago Fire are coming to the Citrus Bowl for an important Eastern Conference match-up, and it's time to get our grog and grub on.
From Chicago - Clyde's Ale ESB, Argus Brewery
I'm a fan of the ESB (Extra Special Bitter) style beer. They are a well balanced beer (balancing the hops and malts), that are not really bitter in taste. They are usually darker in color, almost copper in appearance, and quite easy for most palates. If you haven't tried an ESB before, I highly recommend you make a go of it as our Lions try for all three points against the Chicago Fire.
Clyde’s Ale ESB is a strong ale rooted in British tradition. Argus created the ale using primarily British malts, hops and a classic British style yeast culture. Expect a deep copper color, full malt flavors & a robust hop character. It truly is an Extra Special Bitter.
Pair with: Lamb Gyro
Dave's Recommendations: Substitute a hot sauce for the tzatziki sauce to give it a more "English" flair. That's how they served it when I was in Nottingham. Add some curly fries to make it a meal.
From Florida: Big Nose IPA, Swamp Head Brewery
Created with crystal clear spring water that originates deep in the Okefenokee Swamp, Big Nose IPA is a mystical nectar brewed for hop lovers. Inhale the aroma and devour the flavor of Big Nose. Big Nose features massive amounts of late flavor hops, augmented with two dry hop addition to enhance the aromatics. A rich malt backbone combines with the intense hop flavors to deliver a balanced finish that keeps you coming back to say...BEER ME!
Pair with: Sausage and Onion Sandwiches
Dave's Recommendations: Add a little sweetness with a side of baked beans.
Thanks for patronizing Pride Pub. As always, Go City, beat Chicago! See you next week!
