Orlando City got first-half goals from Kaká and Carlos Rivas and Tally Hall was only beaten once -- but was saved by central defender Sean St. Ledger's timely header -- as the Lions knocked budding rival Columbus Crew SC out of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Orlando advances to the quarterfinals for just the second time in franchise history and will play the winner of the Chicago Fire-Charlotte Independence match on the road either July 21 or 22.
Columbus came out as the better team, but the Lions found their footing, with Rivas menacing the Crew's three-man back line much of the night. The speedy Colombian winger set up teammates and took his own chances, finally scoring a goal from open play with a rocket late in the first half, after the captain had put the team ahead in the 21st minute off a Darwin Ceren assist.
