Orlando City's front office wants to make the City Beautiful the soccer capital of the south. Today it took a step toward at least making Orlando the soccer capital of Florida by announcing a multi-year deal with FOX Sports Florida / Sun Sports.
Under this agreement, FOX Sports Florida / Sun Sports will provide statewide broadcast coverage of the club's regionally televised matches starting with Saturday night's game vs. Vancouver Whitecaps, and will make all matches on FSF/SS available in Spanish via the SAP function. The two networks combined are scheduled to broadcast 18 Orlando City matches in 2015.
It will not affect local game broadcasts on FOX 35/MY65.
In addition, Orlando City games will be made available for live streaming on phone and tablets through the FOX Sports GO app. And, FOX Sports Florida will re-broadcast all Saturday night matches on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m., giving fans a second chance to catch all the action.
"Our fans across the state will now be able to follow their favorite team all season long thanks to this outstanding partnership," said President and Founder Phil Rawlins in a club release. "As with our great partners at FOX 35, we look forward to working with FOX Sports Florida to deliver a first class broadcast for all our fans across the Sunshine State."
"As the television home for Florida sports, FOX Sports Florida is proud to welcome the Orlando City Soccer Club to our programming line-up," said Tim Ivy, Director of Programming, FOX Sports Florida / Sun Sports via release. "Sports fans of all ages throughout Florida have shown an affinity for soccer and we look forward to bringing Major League Soccer and the Orlando City brand to viewers statewide."
