Looking back at a big win over Montreal, USWNT stars in Orlando for club gala, Brendan Rogers out at Liverpool and more in your Monday morning Lion Links!

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

With two games left in the regular season, Orlando City just keeps rolling.

After saving their season with a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night, the Lions can look ahead to their home finale against NYCFC, as they continue to fight for a spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The club's four-game winning streak has kept them in contention, but Orlando will need to keep the good times rolling (and get a little help from Montreal) if they hope to crack the top six.

But for now, here are some Lion Links to help you survive your Monday!

Recapping the win against Montreal

Orlando City kept its playoff hopes alive with a victory against the Impact this weekend, with an impressive 2-1 victory that electrified over 35,000 fans at the Citrus Bowl.

Behind goals from Cyle Larin and Seb Hines (I know, right!?), the club overpowered a Montreal side that included Didier Drogba as a second-half substitute. In case you missed any of the action, here's The Mane Land's coverage of Saturday's big win:

Now that was a Tifo...

Another strong showing by the best fans in MLS. Consider the bar raised.

USWNT Stars Take Orlando for Club's Annual Gala

So it wasn't quite the unveiling of a new NWSL team, but it's always cool to see stars from this summer's Women's World Cup team hanging out in Orlando.

This is hardly a random visit. Alex Morgan is married to Orlando City midfielder Servando Carrasco, while goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris is from nearby Cocoa Beach.

The event in question was the 2015 Orlando City Soccer Club Awards and Gala. Sunday night's event was held to  honor the players  and staff members that made the club's inaugural season in MLS possible. For the low, low price of $7,500, you could book a seat at the "Superstar Celebrity Table" and probably manage to get in that selfie.

Brendan Rodgers Out at Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers has been on the hot seat longer than Orlando's had an MLS team, but Liverpool finally sent their manager packing this weekend, just hours after a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby.

We should all be allowed to say on our resumes that we "left our post with immediate effect," but then again, we're not all soccer managers. In any case, the move comes after nearly two years of rumors that Rodgers was not long for Anfield.

With the club mired in 10th in the English Premier League standings, this move is hardly a shock. Though it certainly caught Thierry Henry by surprise.

Klinsmann Release Roster for Confed Cup Playoff

With the USMNT set to take on Mexico this week, with a trip to the 2017 Confederations Cup on the line, manager Jurgen Klinsmann released his roster selections for the highly anticipated match.

Going with experience, Klinsmann tabbed 12 MLS players for the crucial match, including all four of his attacking players. Surprise omissions include Mix Diskerud and Omar Gonzalez, which the USMNT manager addressed after the announcement.

"Every time you have to cut down a roster like now from 35 to 23, there are some players that do not make it and it looks like they are not good enough, which is not the case," Klinsmann said. "The competition is very, very tight. Not having Omar Gonzalez or Mix Diskerud on this roster, for example, is not because they are not good enough, it’s just because you see another player that is better in their position right now in this specific moment."

As the last two winners of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the U.S. and Mexico will play for a chance to appear in the 2017 Confederations Cup, a sort of dress rehearsal for the following year's World Cup, that will be played in Russia.

That's it for Lions Links today. Have a great week everybody!
