Hi guys! How's your Monday so far? I know, it's early. Hopefully you're doing better than most of the top Premier League teams did in FA Cup action this weekend.
If you haven’t been near a computer since Thursday, here’s what you missed from Orlando City SC’s Media Day on Friday:
- Kevin’s complete Media Day recap.
- A collection of Alessandro Tagliabue’s best shots in our Media Day Photo Gallery.
- Austin David's story on the Luke Boden-Lewis Neal "bromance."
- Andrew Harrison gave you Adrian Heath's perspective on starting preseason training.
And you won't want to miss Episode 2 of the Mane Land PawedCast, featuring an interview with Orlando City Communications Coordinator, Jhamie Chin!
Whew! That much content might take you all week to finish up. And as if that wasn't enough, here are your Lion Links for today:
U-20s Going to New Zealand
Orlando City's Tyler Turner, Conor Donovan, and possibly Tommy Redding will head to New Zealand with the U-20 USMNT for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in late May through mid-June. The Americans advanced Saturday with a 2-0 win over El Salvador in a playoff in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Turner and Donovan were unused subs for the game.
Also headed to New Zealand will be Designated Player Bryan Rochez, who qualified with his Honduras teammates.
Klinsmann Taps Shea for USMNT
Midfielder (and possible future left back) Brek Shea was selected by Jurgen Klinsmann for the 23-man roster for the USMNT's upcoming friendlies against Chile and Panama. Shea was part of Klinsmann's January "Camp Cupcake" and must have left an impression to get selected for this set of matches. While Adrian Heath is eager to get his internationals into camp, he'll have to wait a bit longer for Brek.
Waiting for Beckham
In case you missed it, Sports Illustrated's Stanley Kay put together this story about Miami's Southern Legion supporters group. Mirroring the group which became The Ruckus here in Orlando, this hearty band of soccer lovers waits for MLS to come to South Florida (again).
Fire Sign Maloney as DP
The Chicago Fire got better on Sunday, officially announcing the transfer of Scottish international attacker Shaun Maloney from Wigan Athletic. The move has been rumored for a while, but it finally got done and Maloney is now Chicago's third Designated Player.
That's all I've got for you today. Enjoy your Monday and look for contributions from Sean Rollins and John Rey later.
